Training

The South Lanarkshire Adult Protection Committee has a responsibility for raising awareness and promoting the development of knowledge and skills for employees within the named public bodies, voluntary agencies, service providers and members of the public.

In order to meet this responsibility South Lanarkshire Adult Protection Committee has developed single and multi agency training programmes. It has further developed a comprehensive Council Officer Skills training course.

As an employee the training you will receive will depend upon which organisation you are from and what your role is.

We offer a three tiered approach to training and development for employees:

Adult Support and Protection Basic Awareness Training

Online training is available to council employees through Learn online and is ideal for staff who simply need to be aware of the legislation and know when and how to seek help.

Adult Support and Protection Multi Agency Training

This three and a half hour course is aimed at providing participants with a basic knowledge of the ASP(S) Act 2007. The training will also provide participants with the opportunity to discuss and gain a clearer understanding of the duties and powers to protect ‘adults at risk’ of harm and time to reflect on their own duties and responsibilities.

This course is usually delivered in a multi agency context to professionals from the NHS, Council employees such as Social Work, Housing and Education staff, social care, Police and voluntary agencies. This course is appropriate for frontline practitioners who have a high level contact with members of the public and those who have supervisory responsibilities for employees.
